This … makes me think of Back to the Future: the pan over of all the clocks. … This movie would be so much better if it too had a breakfast machine. … Altho I don’t want to see the vampire version of that. Probably be pretty gross. — Sofa Dogs,

We saw the Statue of Liberty … and [my dad] goes, ‘The torch is the weakest part of that thing. That would have fallen off first.’ [laughter] He’s a practical man. He is! He’s a metallurgist. — Film Grok,

I always expected there, in the alley, to be Lady and the Tramp, eating some spaghetti. [laughter] Again, director’s cut. — Sofa Dogs,

      • Really good work by Sofa Dogs on the classic '80s vampire flick, and quite funny. They do a little comparing of it to Lost Boys, Rear Window, and BttF as well as BtVS and gently prise apart the film's faults (like why does vampire movie buff Charley need Evil Ed to tell him how to fight vampires?). The Peter Vincent movies on TV are really specific parodies of Peter Cushing's Van Helsing from the Hammer horror pictures. (But yes, the name is obviously from Cushing and Vincent Price.) Charley's car (a '65 or so Mustang) is in the process of being restored. It has had the rust and bad paint sanded off and Bondo auto body filler applied to smooth it out. But he just can't afford the new paint job yet to finish it properly. Also, they totally ignore Peter Vincent's super-sweet '62 Studebaker Lark. And thank you! Chris Sarandon does remind me of Mark Ruffalo! Something about them has been bugging me for years. Something I noticed: Dandrige's basement somehow has at least 8 windows—and a couple of large mirrors.

      • Good commentary from the cast and crew. They do a bit more narrating than I prefer, but there's plenty of background and insight into the screenwriting and directing, and good bits of humor.

      • Terror Transmission liquors up and, honestly, doesn't have a lot to say. The usual deep background, but it lost me. Quit after 25 minutes (which is only 10 minutes into the actual film).

      • Good work by Film Grok. There's a lot of background, some analysis of the story and social commentary aspects of the film. There's a fair amount of rather pointless speculation of if the film could be remade, given that it already was remade. Some reasonably good Heston imitations, but also some gratuitous singing, altho that's not as annoying as the numerous attempts to identify the actors playing each ape. The talking doll doesn't use batteries. It operates by gravity causing a weighted piece to fall thru a tube. The Chevy Nova/"no va" story is bunk.

      • Enjoyable commentary. Not a lot of background info, they just discuss what is onscreen and what they like about the movie.

      • Surprisingly scholarly take on the classic from MMM, altho they still have a bit of fun with it.
