My regular co-host was out of the studio on this one but thankfully I was joined by two very special guests and fellow fan commentators–Tysto of Tysto.com (http://www.tysto.com/) and John of SofaDogs.com (http://www.sofadogs.libsyn.com/)–for this commentary on the 1999 sci-fi comedy Galaxy Quest. You don’t have to be a fan sci-fi to dig this movie because it’s appeal is universal.

There’s comedy, drama, suspense, explosions, spaceships, and really cool looking aliens. This movie has everything. It’s a treat to behold. It really is.

Which make me wonder…

Why doesn’t this movie have a sequel?

It’s an all-star commentary with myself, John of Sofa Dogs and Josh of Soulless Minions! We love the film, the cast, Star Trek, and pretty much everything else, so join us for the fun! Wow! It’s like the Justice League of Fan Commentators! This one’s pretty good. There’s a lot of background info and decent analysis. Josh has a very extensive knowledge of Star Trek which allows him to share an interesting perspective of the flick.

I would say this leans more towards the Defenders than the Justice League…
If Speakeasy’s Doctor or the other Minion was on here then it would be the Justice League for sure….Besides all that this was a great commentary!

I preface my comment by saying I love you all.

However, I think having all of you together led to a lot of tangents. I know you know a bunch of stuff about all things Star Trek, but I feel like I got less movie-specific information than usual.

I would love an Event Horizon commentary.

And, if you guys are the Justice League, what is Down in Front?

Well, on the Mystery Men commentary, Down in Front declared that they were the Mystery Men.

DIF are the X-Men. DIF is their own dedicated kick-ass group, but they always work together, and don’t really cross over with the outside world. They are self contained.

On the other hand, these three guys primarily have solo adventures. Tysto is Superman, John is Batman, and Josh is Wonder Woman. But when Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman come together, you’ve got the Justice League. They’re not necessarily better or worse than the X-Men, they just have a different dynamic.

So, I’m just trying to work out the mythology here… If these guys are the Justice League, and DIF’s The X-Men, I guess that makes me and Max the Wonder Twins?

Awesome idea! I’ll see if they’re on board with it but you know I’m definitely interested in that. Which trek movie would you like us to do?

But speaking of collaborations, I just got together with Mike from Commentary Track Stars and John from Sofa Dogs for a commentary on Bring It On. That was a lot of fun to do. Look for that soon.

Both CTS and Sofa Dogs are on my RSS feed. So, it will be brought.

And I want Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. First, none of the JL/WT have done it yet. Second: DIF has done it, so it would be a total track-off.

If the Wonder Twins joined the Justice League, that group would be the Super Friends, which is a step up for me and Max, but a step down for everyone else.

So, yeah, that sounds about right.

I would say this is the Three Amigos of commentary team ups. And I mean that in a good way. I’ve always thought Tysto works best with co-stars, and this was a great combo. I can’t wait for more!
