And my god, it’s amazing how much the first half presages the Harry Potter films.

They talk about not seeing the actors hardly anywhere else, and I agree. I don’t understand how Nicholas Rowe especially didn’t have a big career. However, there is only room for a few hundred big name actors at a time, and the UK affords even fewer big opportunities.

The pistol Rathe uses is a double-shot Derringer, designed for easy concealment for self defense at point blank range. The barrel is so short, it’s unlikely Rathe could have hit anyone at that distance, so at least it makes sense that he waits for Holmes to approach before firing again.

Sherlock’s brother is Mycroft rather than Wycliff.
