In honor of Memorial Day (this made perfect sense at the time) we decided to tackle the ass-kicking greatness of Arnold in COMMANDO. Come find out how Rae Dawn Chong goes from “What an annoying bitch” to “I’d bang the shit out of her” in less than an hour. Why we thought Carl Weathers was in this movie, twice. Commmando… the movie that started it all. We love this movie, all three of us. It might very well be Arnold at his very apex of Arnold-ness. He’s feeding deer out of his hand, shooting bad guys, breaking their necks, tossing ‘em off of cliffs, tearing seats out of cars for no other reason to show off how strong he is, taking on an arm with nothing but a few dozen machine guns, and killing a man in front his daughter. If we’re laughing, we’re not laughing at the movie, but because of the reality inside of it. That’s the heart of Life At That Level.

Oh, and the final scene between Matrix and Bender, that’s what started our little endeavor.

It’s been a while since we’ve posted a commentary here but we’re back and in full effect. This week, James Gregory and Michael Ferraro tackle Mark L. Lester’s infamous 1980s classic, Commando. The film starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as a caring father who rescues his daughter from a man who wears a tank top and chain mail. Did I mention his daughter was played by Alyssa Milano? 80s action doesn’t get any better than this.

A companion to our excessively good Commando review, we advise you press play when the Fox “searchlights” logo has finished at the start of the movie. Please also bear in mind that the commentary is for the uncut version of the movie, and will run out of sync with most UK home versions of the film.
