From Film Bin:

It’s time for another pilot, and this time it’s the turn of ‘Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman’. Designed as a spiritual successor to the original George Reeves television show (yes?) and imbued with a quirky sense of fun and noir influences this pilot and the following first season were actually a lot of fun before it all fell apart due to what can only be called ‘meddling’.

Oli, Ant and Rich talk about this show both nostalgically and factually, armed with all the fondness that British viewers have for this show that used to incongruously precede Saturday morning children’s BBC or set up Saturday nights on BBC One. ‘Lois and Clark’ was big here! We talk about the special effects, touch on the interference and changes that happened before season two, marvel at Lex’s weirdness, and try not to duplicate the official DVD commentary too much.

In bizarre conspiracy land, Oli becomes obsessed with why Clark is wearing those glasses when he obviously doesn’t need them and hasn’t become Superman yet. Everyone thinks about the topical launch of ‘Man of Steel’ the following day at the theatres and there is some comparison to ‘Superman: The Movie’. Also, Clark’s in-series parents are awesome! Go Eddie Jones and K. Callan!

This commentary was made while viewing region two season one DVD boxsets of ‘Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman’, paused at 00:00 just before the picture fades in from black and the Superman S-Symbol comes on screen. Lots of fan commentaries from around the world for a myriad of movies and television shows may be found at www.zarban.com, ‘The House of Commentaries’. It’s an awesome place.

Next time: ‘Nacho Libre’?

Recorded: 13/06/2013.

From Film Bin:

How often do you hear people even mention ‘The Great Muppet Caper’? If ever there were an overlooked or forgotten classic it would be this, the second of the two Muppet movies made while the show was in production, and the grand and wonderful finale to that Muppet era. It would never be this mad or golden again until ‘The Muppets’ premiered in 2011. And even ‘The Muppets’ was certainly not weird enough to be from the Golden Age!

For this commentary we trapped Oli, Rich and Abi deep in the Film Bin Dungeon, supplied with only mangoes and coconut milk. They weren’t unwilling, as they do love the Muppets and chattered on amiably about Grodin’s passion for Miss Piggy, Piggy’s delusional episode, bicycles, and all the wondrous madness of the maddest Muppet movie. So, Kermit and Fozzie are identical twins? Oh, of course, I forgot the hat!

You have to use exclamations a lot with ‘The Great Muppet Caper’. Soon we shall complete the golden twosome and do ‘The Muppet Movie’ too. There was no way on Earth this movie would go back into the Film Disposal Unit and it now takes pride of place on the shelf of madness. They don’t make things like this any more.

This commentary was made while viewing region two DVDs of this movie, paused at black just before Animal fades in inside the movie circle. Lots of fan commentaries from around the world for a myriad of movies and television shows may be found at www.zarban.com, ‘The House of Commentaries’.

Hello and welcome back to DOOM!’s exploration of the Comic Book film genre hosted by Aaron Poole and JJ Hawkins. This month we look at the third of Sam Rami’s Spider-Man films. Man, this movie sucks. Recorded at Dragon*Con last year, Aaron and JJ thought about redoing the episode and seeing if it could be done better, but nope, this is what this deserves. You will hear about a contest during this episode and…ALL ENTRIES ARE TO BE IN THE COMMENT SECTION OF THIS EPISODE.

If you want to drink, take one every time Aaron says the magic phrase, “Fuck this movie!” but be warned, he says is a lot. A LOT. And seriously…fuck this movie.

From The Website of Doom:

Hello and welcome back to DOOM!’s exploration of the Comic Book film genre hosted by Aaron Poole and JJ Hawkins. This month we look at the second of Brian Singer’s X-men films, believe it or not, named X-Men 2…or X2…or X-Men United. At the time it was universally considered one of the greatest comic movies of all time, with some people putting it squarely at the top. Does it hold up? Let’s find out…

If you want to drink, take one every time Skype makes JJ sound like he has had a few too many already. Silly skype, if we wanted our podcast auto-tuned, we would have gone to those guys on youtube. I still love that hamburger song. That shit is catchy, for reals, yo.

From Goats in the Machine:

Prepare yourself for quite possibly the strangest opening of a Twelve Months of Terror yet.

Yes, after we wait for Louise to get over her fit of nose-blowing related giggles, we celebrate father’s day by delving into our commentary for the 1987 cult classic The Stepfather.

Proving something of a little treasure, The Stepfather sees us heap plaudits upon Terry O’Quinn‘s acting and question whether something so associated with the 80s slasher phenomenon is even part of that subgenre. Would some people even class it as a horror?

Make room for daddy, its time for The Stepfather.

From The Website of Doom:

Hello and welcome back to DOOM!’s exploration of the Comic Book film genre hosted by Aaron Poole and JJ Hawkins. This month we look at the second of Sam Rami’s Spider-Man trilogy, that’s right…Spider-Man 2. Aaron legendarily hates this movie and JJ considers it one of his favorites. Who is right? Who is wrong? Does either manage to sway the other? How long can I keep this series of short questions going?

I’ll bet there was a drinking game to this month’s episode, but let’s face it…I was drinking heavily when I was recording it. So, listen in and find out what that drinking game may have been. Next month, I’ll take notes or something.

From The Website of Doom:

Hello and welcome back to DOOM!’s exploration of the Comic Book film genre hosted by Aaron Poole and JJ Hawkins. This month we look at the adaptation of Alan Moore’s V For Vendetta. Yes, this is our fifth Drive In. Yes, this movie is obsessed with fives and the Roman Numeral V. No, we did not do it on purpose, but when we saw it was happening we decided to run with it. This is our first foray into the non super hero movie, and I think we learned a bit while doing so…

…which leads to this month’s drinking game. (we don’t do these on purpose, they just seem to happen) Whenever Aaron and JJ get distracted by something and start talking wildly off subject, take a drink. I suggest a small one, as this may or may not happen a lot. ( I mean A LOT. Really. As in, man this movie has a lot of scenes where people are talking and what the heck do you say about that) Maybe take two every time we get the lyrics wrong to a certain British pop anthem. You don’t really need to be awake for the end of this sucker, do you? Drink responsibly…to the extreme!
