Very good work from the TWIG crew. They’re huge fans but don’t get too nerdy and have a lot of fun with the movie. They hate the costumes, blame PETA for threatening to destroy Earth, and debate the merits of various Starfleet captains.

I would give this a 2/5 its okay, they only know the basic stuff and take long pauses to look info up and when find something they completely miss interpret it. Such as they talk about how Robert Zemeckis was an unknown director (they do talk about Romancing the Stone but completely dismiss it despite it being a huge hit and was how BTTF got green lit) and how the budget was so small, yet movies that cost 40 million at this time could almost bankrupt a studio if the movie fails (See Heavens Gate). They seem to think the squeals were planed and how risky that was (squeals were not originally planed). They also say 1 & 2 were not filmed back to back but completely left out 2 & 3 were filmed back to back. I could keep going but I wont bore you. Though they do acknowledge they will get ripped because of how they do the commentary, if your going to do a “geek” podcast on a movie like this you better know more about the subject and context of things.

Fair work from different TWIG canucks. There is a lot of comparing the movie to the book and the video game, but not a whole lot else. They screw up the countdown, but you can hear the music start, so that’s your real sync point.

I think Kelly was making scrambled hamburgers.

I like these comms but I wish they had paid more attention to what was happening in Returns. The Penguin’s plan was actually quite clear. It was to kill the firstborn of Gotham. That is why he passed himself off as a hero and then made up that he was looking for his parents. He was actually making a list (like a twisted Santa) of the firstborns. By the end he decided to kill all of Gotham’s citizens since Batman ruined his original plan.

They say in the beginning that it is the Extended cut but they find out later it is the Theatrical. They had one of the misprinted disks.

Their nerdy enthusiasm is fairly entertaining, but a lot of their jokes aren’t very funny, and a lot of their trivia is inaccurate.

TWIG does more Batman. They like it a bit more than the Batman Universe gang. They mock the villains’ mysterious costume provider and Alfred’s relationship to young Master Dick. They mock Batman’s sexual hangups and the Riddler’s magical hair and increasingly effeminate style. And they ponder the Riddler’s relationship with the Gotham planning commission.

Good work from TWIG on the second return of Burton’s Batman. There’s some funny stuff about the Penguin’s perversity, Bruce being a serial killer, and Alfred suffering from dementia.

The model isn’t there for nothing. The whole intro scene with Max Shreck and the mayor is all about the power plant Shreck wants to build. And Max’s gun would work fine; the gun wasn’t under water very long, and the cartridges are well sealed.

Good work by TWIG as they start working their way thru the Batman movies. They get fooled by the opening; still effective after 20 years.

They don’t have IMDb handy, so they struggle to remember actors’ names. It’s Alec Baldwin, not Alex. It’s comedian Robert Wuhl as Knox. Debi Mazar was Spice to Drew Barrymore’s Sugar in Batman Forever.

A sesquicentennial is 150 years.

Rambling, uninformed, exhausted, largely off-topic commentary from TWIG. Bonus: belching! Yes, Keira Knightly was a handmaiden in Phantom Menace. The "son of a gun" etymology is bullshit. Judith Light played Angela in Who's the Boss, not "Meredith Bluth." In the 16th-17th century, commodore was a naval position of a captain in charge of more than one ship, not a fort. The two guards at the docks can't swim because practically no one at that time could swim; not even sailors. Also... Attention Birdman: Pimp slap that soccer monkey. 1:50:39.

Epic* commentary for an epic** movie that explores how a fascist, militarist society would deal with mindless killer aliens (hint: ordnance). They never talk about the fascist overtones that Verhoeven weaves in (as he does to pretty much every movie he makes [or maybe its writer Neumeier]), but they do explore how cool it is to see bug-like aliens explode. Commentary starts 8 minutes in. On a side note, NPH rules; Dina Meyer makes me melt.
