Good stuff from Terror Transmission, altho they digress fairly frequently into personal stories and other movies.

Stevie Wonder did write "Superstition" himself. "Effete" is pronounced /ef FEET/. Robert Heinlein's name is pronounced /HINE line/.

Re: listening to the commentary after watching. Don't care. If it doesn't sync with the films, it's not a proper commentary. I listen to almost everything while watching the movie: I can't waste 2 hrs watching the film and then another 2 hrs listening to the commentary and trying to remember what was going on in the film.

Scholarly but entertaining commentary from Horror Etc. Terrific work. They complain a fair amount about the poor reviews the film got on its opening, and spend a fair amount of time patting Rob Bottin on the back, but they do some great analysis.

Oh god. I feel woozy. I think I've got the plutoxin 7 virus. This film is so terrible. I thought I could count on DVDC UK to get me thru this nightmare. But they love it.

They deliver all the usual fannish commenting, great background, and thoughtful analysis (of things like patriotism and plastic surgery). But—and I can't stress it enough—this is a terrible movie. I say that as someone who loves Big Trouble in Little China and The Thing and who doesn't hate most other Carpenter movies.

Automatic dialog replacement automatically fits your spoken line to the mouthing of the line on-screen. According to IMDb and a couple of other sources, Russell did indeed make all his own basketball shots—eventually. Eddie's car is a 1959 Cadillac Series 62. Cuervo's parade car is a 1959 Buick Electra.

Another great commentary from the DVDC.co.uk guys. Lots of enthusiasm for what is, really, not a great movie. They do go rather far afield at times, discussing '80s films in general and the films of supporting actors. Nice discussion of what makes a buddy movie and where the idea originates, and the ending gets very funny.

And yes, you can buy sub-machine guns in America, but they can't be fully automatic. However, it is supposedly very easy to modify them to make them fully automatic.
