Good work from Impossible, altho rather noisy.

It is a bit scary. My 9-y-o nephew lasted 2 minutes, and my 9-y-o niece lasted 5.

Commentary starts around 0:12:37, when they say "Um, yeah. So let's hit the button." (I guess.)

The Impossibles make their way thru the latest Who They discuss the treatment of religion, which they feel is slightly heavy handed, and blogger, which the feel is baldly unfair. The get a little mixed up between "faith" and "fear". The rooms hold the things you fear so that you'll fall back on faith, which allows the baddie to prey on you. Rory doesn't have faith in anything (he doesn't worship Amy; he just loves her; but Amy has hero worship for the Doctor). He does have fears, so he could find them in a room, but the baddie doesn't want him because, without faith, he isn't good food.

The Doctor says at the end that the machinery got stuck and the previous batch of people's fears were left in the rooms. That's why the clown is there, and probably the PE teacher.

Impossible Podcast sits down with the Worst. Episode. Ever. and likes it. Swithun talks some sense.

Amy is trapped in absolutely the dumbest, most perfunctory way. She seems to make no effort to escape at first—even tho she makes a nest next to the temporal engines, which presumably could be shut down to bring all the time streams together. There's no actual person in the facility for her or the Doctor to talk to who can straighten things out. She never meets ANY other person, which means that people are quarantined in a gigantic amusement park SEPARATELY(?!) She spends 36 years in an amusement park and doesn't find a way to enjoy herself. Rory has the glass that syncs up the timestreams so the quarantined can talk to visitors but he fails to keep using it, thereby allowing Amy to speed ahead decades. Amy gets very angry even tho the Doctor explained that she's living decades in a few minutes compared to them. Rory (to his credit, I suppose) never mentions that he waited 2000 years for Amy. And old Amy wants to keep living even tho she's known nothing but decades of loneliness and hardship.

Horrible. Just horrible.

Impossible does another great and balanced job. Always fun to listen to the Welshmen.

The only sense I can make of the bridge toll bit is that maybe Rex has EZ (“easy”) Pass and normally breezes thru turnpike and Holland Tunnel toll plazas. However, I will note that crossing into New Jersey from Manhattan will also put you in “Newport”. :-)

Good work by Impossible Podcast. They pick apart the goofy beginning. (What's the use of marking the number of silents you see when you forget them a moment later? You'll just end up recounting the same ones over and over.)

Good call on the Jeep at the beginning. The Jeep CJ didn't have metal doors until the late '70s. The Lincoln seen later is about right for 1969, but the green LED in the Apollo 11 command module is 25 years early.

NASA did use advanced Silence technology in Apollo. Without it, we never would have gotten to the moon. They just didn't need the densest material in the universe.

Impossible Podcast is back! And they have a good look at the newest Who.

That's Bill Clinton's rug on Nixon's floor, for some reason, by the way (altho it's missing the edge design). The rug in early 1969 should have been the light blue rug with the presidential seal (the eagle) in relief rather than in color. The curtains are period correct, however.

Good work from Impossible Podcast on the Tennant finale. They're split on it, but have some interesting analysis both pro and con.

Good work from Impossible Podcast on the Tennant finale. They’re split on it, but have some interesting analysis both pro and con. The discussion is extended beyond the credits with some interesting musings on approaches to have more surprise in the Doctor’s regeneration.

For my money, “Blink” was rather better than “Human Nature,” partly because I had issues with the Doctor hiding in a time and place that put Martha at such a disadvantage.

Great work from Caleb sans companions. There's good analysis and fun speculation on part 2 (which he hasn't seen yet, but I have). He likes the episode but has some issues with it, which always helps.

Impossible Things takes a shot at the watery Martian ep and have a lot of fun, both with and against. Some good background and analysis.

The volume of the episode makes it hard to hear the commentators at times (but easy to keep in sync :-)).

Possible Moon spoiler early on. Slight The Thing spoiler 32 minutes in. Possible 28 Days Later spoiler 53 minutes in.

I think the gay agenda is designed to seem normal in 20 years. The reference in this one I think is pretty smooth and could easily go unnoticed by young viewers in 20 years when gay marriage is socially accepted. Think of how we don't think anything of black people appearing on Star Trek even tho that was a big deal back then.

And I agree that it's just insane that RTD didn't have the Doctor save the crew (the ones he could) and take them to a different time and place to live.

More good commentary from the Welsh team. Some liked the episode more than others, but they eventually talk each other into being disappointed by it. They feel it's too straightforward, but then complain that the Ood aren't purely good.

Good treatment for the season 4 finale. The ending is indeed contrived but, worse, is rather clumsy. Rose and Donna should basically have switched places, so that the bond between Rose and the human Doctor was stronger. The physics of returning the earth to orbit was incredibly sloppy, as was Davros tweaking the Doctor about his "soul"—which is to say, teaching some humans to fight back.

"Vis a vis" means "opposite to". It's "viz." that means "namely". Also, one person can't have a "general consensus". Aside from that, it was interesting enough; it's nice to hear from female fans (or wives of male fans), especially on this Donna-centric episode.

Note: The commentary doesn't start until 9 minutes in.
