I just lost a long post because I didn't fill in the name and email fields. Ugg! It is too long, let me sum up.

For the record this is the Extended Cut, Zarban.

Very good, informative start. Goes off on long tangents after a bit. Usual loud noises from DC (Insert brilliant joke about a guessing game). DC's movie volume gets very loud again (made another joke about the evil, sentient volume continuing my hearing loss). DC you should turn off your volume until you figure out the problem. It is really killing your commentaries. I didn't finish listening, but might give the last bit a listen later.

LOL I had to stop in the middle because it was getting late. I'll finish it tonight.

EDIT: The discussion about whether or not it would be okay to have someone else do the mo-cap for Clu sounds hilariously like a drunken college dorm evening—can smashing and all.

Given that this was as good as the CGI was going to look, they never should have used it for the main villain. They should have just used it for the flashbacks. For the main villain, they should have just shaved Jeff Bridges, cut and dyed his hair, and given him a little makeup-and-CG facelift. Or else recast the villain entirely. Hell, Boxleitner looks great: dye HIS hair and make HIM the villain. Then the movie would actually deserve the title.

If they could make the CG characters look really real—with lip sync like in Avatar—then I say go for it, but only with the contractual blessing of the actor in question. Plenty of actors have been obligated to do movies they didn't want to do, so if the film makers had the legal right to make a CG version of Bridges, then they wouldn't have been any worse jerks than other producers in the past.

Denim Cowboy and the Doctor take a bite at the luscious empty calories of Tron: Legacy. The Doctor loves it. Denim Cowboy is less committed. The Doctor accidentally (and comically) spoils several movies.

Lots of microphone bumping and, in the middle, comically loud wrapper rattling from Denim Cowboy. Also, Denim Cowboy's TV volume comes up too loud, perhaps due to his software automatically adjusting the mike. It makes the commentary almost unlistenable at times.

Michael Sheen seems to be leftover from a Matrix sequel.

Denim Cowboy reveals that Mountain Dew is now available in the UK. And so my takeover of the world begins....

Denim Cowboy and the Doctor delve into the Golan-Globus sci-fi mess and have good fun with it. There's quite a bit of mike breathing in the middle.

The Doctor busts out his biology background. Porphyria is probably the disease they're thinking of when they talk about vampires.

They have Skype trouble around 21 minutes and again around 48 minutes, but they straighten it out. It isn't too difficult to keep sync, even with the issues; they make enough direct references to what's on-screen to know what's going on.

Tobe Hooper's name is pronounced "TOH-bee". And it is indeed generally thought that Spielberg ghost-directed Poltergeist (pardon the pun) because Hooper was stoned most of the time.

America doesn't have model villages anywhere at all that I know of. However, that would be really cool.

This commentary starts with some interesting analysis, although the desire to stay absolutely screen specific leads to some unfortunate interruptions and frustratingly unfinished thoughts. About halfway through, the over-consumption of alcohol turns the conversation into an endurance test, more than anything else. It would be funny if it weren't so damn awkward.

Fine team-up between the Doctor and the Denim Cowboy for a fun film. There's good background and humor. They're using Skype, and the audio goes crazy for several seconds around 9m 30s and again at 11m. There's a fair amount of talking-over.

I think Queen was doing the film a favor. They were literally at their peak in 1980, releasing some of their biggest hits at almost the same time as the movie.

The Doctor doesn't recognize the great William Hootkins as Zarkov's assistant. The Denim Cowboy contributes frequently to a swear jar, which is pretty funny in itself. Like all Brits, they lapse into Doctor Who discussion from time to time. At one point, Denim Cowboy has a sudden brain aneurysm and claims that English rugby players would kick American football players' asses. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

The guy who is supposed to fall on his own sword is George Harris, who was the ship captain in Raiders of the Lost Ark. More recently, he had a small part in HP & Order of the Phoenix.
