SpaceCamp
by: Soulless.Minions
- Solid work from the 'Soulless Minions.' Plenty of information on the Challenger incident which sadly derailed this Space Adventurer upon its' release. And with the recent shuddering of the shuddle program, the film comes across as rather quaint. There are comparisons to the written work that inspired the film, and some good discussion on the characters and plot points. I agree that the "Zero gravity" elements hold up pretty well, considering they did not have the "Vomit Comet" from "Apollo 13." Although there are good performances by Capshaw, Larry (B!) Scott, and Tate, 'Camp' is really schmaltzy. Nostalgia-tinged glasses removed, the combo of Max and Jinx is cloying. At least we are treated to some Frank Welker (Slimer!). His voice, and that of the 'Minions' makes this commentary worth the listen.

It can have it in spades in certain moments. Especially when it comes to Max and Jinx. But I still can't help but love it. It's just one of those kind of movies. For me that is.
